For any items on the list above that you checked "2-Somewhat Disagree" or "1-Strongly Disagree," please explain here:- Sometimes, I feel like I’m here to work only
- The „check-in“ for objectives has been postponed multiple times until now
- I feel like my ideas/suggestions are not taken seriously
- I am mostly washing cows, feeding chickens, or collecting & washing eggs.
- I specifically asked for gloves. All other interns also received knives, headlamps, and notebooks.
Was the MESA information you received in your home country clear? Was the description of your training site accurate? What more would you have liked MESA to send you before you left you home country? It was all very clear and well organized.
If you worked with a Program Representative in your home country, was he/she helpful? Is there anything more the Representative could have done to help you complete your application or to better understand MESA's program?I did not work with a Program Representative.
Any problems with housing, electricity, heat, phone, driver's license, bank account, transportation? Other problems? The intern house is very poorly isolated. It’s very cold.
Describe the training you have received since getting to your placement site. What have you learned so far? Have you attended any special training, workshops, conferences, classes, etc.?I was trained in being “herdsman”, feeding & moving chickens, egg handling, and running a market booth.
I learned an intensive way of cleaning cows and some facts about raising chickens & egg production.
It took me four weeks to finally be able to watch the cheese making process.
Have you been involved in an cultural activities since your arrival? (examples : farmers' workshop, library event, soccer games, family activities, etc)We have “community nights” on Wednesdays where we talk about household issues. We also watched a movie and attended a forage study meeting.
Any suggestions to improve MESA's program?I would like to have more exchange with other stewards (maybe some interactive courses, group projects, living with other stewards at one farm,...)
