1. Describe the Trainee/Steward’s role for this phase |
to acquire the skills and knowledge of planting and the timing of planting as well as farmers markets and CSA logistics |
2. Specific goals and objectives for this phase |
setting around 3000 tomato, pepper and eggplant plants. first week of farmers markets and CSA starts the first week of may. so learning how to pack, store and transport produce to and from markets. learning market setups and displays. attracting previous customer base to a market that has been around for fifty years. working for various moderate income communities to provide knowledge of nutrition and consumption of healthy food |

interact with a multicultural staff and groups concerning food insecurity, environmental concerns such as water quality and low income subsidy programs as well as attending cultural events |

market setups, transporting produce, planting and transplanting thousand of plants with transplanter, learning organic pesticide mixing and applying as well as the timing of the pesticide application. |

harvesting, packing and transporting.fruits and veggies to markets and co ops. end of the season clean up. cleaning, packing and storing everything used during the season. putting down cover crops, have all the grass mowed and maintained before the winter sets in. cover fruits, berries, rhubarb with hay for the winter. |
