Listen to and work with professional supervisors

2. Specific goals and objectives for this phase

Become comfortable and familiar with our gardens and the plants within them.

3. Primary Supervisor’s qualifications

Long experience in these fields doing and teaching all the required tasks from planting, pruning, compost/feeding, irrigation, weed management through record-keeping and client/public relations.

4. What plans are in place for the Trainee/Steward to participate in cultural activities while in the United States?

The fluent, educated steward is availing herself of varied musical and agricultural Bay Area events.

5. Specific knowledge, skills, or techniques to be learned during this phase?

Learn the relationships between the plants and other parts of the garden, and meet the clients.

6. How specifically will this knowledge, skills, or techniques be taught? Include methodology of training and chronology/syllabus.

Direct supervision and hands-on participatory training.

7. How will the Trainee/Steward’s acquisition of new skills and competencies be measured?

We discuss the needs at each site on arrival, then review our accomplishments before leaving,
