About the Placement:

Detailed Placement Description

The Urban Edge Farm is a 34-acre, certified-organic farm located about 50 miles east of San Francisco. Our farm raises and markets over 50 different specialty organic vegetables, herbs, and fruits. We also operate a 20-acre vineyard. We practice growing techniques that keep our land vital and sustainable, such as planting cover crops, composting, and cultivating habitat areas for beneficial insects and wildlife.

About the Internship

Training Hours:

48 hours

Training Expectations :

Steward is expected to train six, 8-hour days per week, with one full day off per week (Usually Sunday). Daily supervision is provided by the owners and farm manager,

On-Site Training, Steward’s primary activities :

Planting, transplanting, greenhouse starts, harvesting, weeding, irrigating (drip lines), composting, cover-cropping, produce/fruit preparation for farm store, restaurants and market sales, selling at farmers markets, delivery assistance, etc.

Climate and Location Description

Temperate climate, gets very hot during summer, rainy between Dec. – Feb.,
Semi-urban, 10 minute drive to train that goes to San Francisco. easy access to public transportation.

Compensation :

$200/week, shared trailer, Free, daily food, Health insurance* (will enroll/maintain/provide as part of the Steward’s compensation)

Accommodations and amenities provided :

Shared travel trailer. No internet in trailer but there is internet on the property.
