About the Placement:

Detailed Placement Description

Placement at Singing Frogs Farm will allow the Steward to understand the full scope of our daily operations. Other interns have begun their own farms after working with us.

Our area is rich with other farmers. We will link the Steward with our local Farmers’ Guild which holds monthly meetings for farmers. We can link the Steward with other local farmers, many of whom are happy to have a helping hand for a day or two in exchange for sharing their production systems.

Training Expectations :

The Steward will become an integral part of our farm crew, including seeding, nursery propagation, transplanting, bed management, harvest, land management and potentially sales. The schedule will start 8 hours a day Monday through Friday but may be extended to weekends if the Steward has an interest in sales. The steward will be supervised in the field by our two Farm Managers with additional supervision by Farmers at least once daily. At least twice weekly, the steward and Farmers will meet either formally or informally to discuss their progress.

On-Site Training, Steward’s primary activities :

The Steward will gain a great deal of hands-on training in the field. Additionally, we will include the Steward in one of our intensive training workshops. Additionally, the Farmers will meet with the Steward one-on-one and with crew to go over training objectives set by Farmers and the Steward.

Climate and Location Description

We are sub-urban. We are 3.5 miles from downtown Sebastopol.

Compensation :

Finished room in Barn with access to shared full kitchen, Veggies and eggs as needed plus $250/month

Accommodations and amenities provided :

We have a finished room upstairs in our barn with access to a shared full kitchen. We will make internet available. There will not be use of a vehicle, but shared bike if needed and frequent trips into town.
