This placement is owned and operated by a: Non-profit Organization.
Production Acreage : #5
Number and Type of livestock : Hogs: 25; Laying hens: 300; goats: 8; Sheep: 8; 20 Steer;
honeybees: 30 hives.
My farm/organization is: Certified Organic
I am an active member of PASA; Tri-State CRAFT
Educational Activities : Intensive curriculum & workshops: crop rotations, no-till, compost production, compost tea, pests & disease control, weed control, soil microbiology, livestock practices, greenhouse management, orchard management, honeybee management, vermicomposting, etc. CRAFT program with visits to other local farms.
Social Environment: Housing is on the farm with other interns and/or staff. No family lives on site.

About the Internship

Training Hours:

45 hours / week

Training Expectations :

Timeline: We offer Seasonal training, ideally Between April and November.
Our farm/organization strongly prefers the steward who has hands-on production experience with our primary crops.
We do require the steward to arrive with a valid home country Drivers’ License and an International Drivers Permit.

On-Site Training, Steward’s primary activities :

Vegetable production & delivery: planting, cultivating, harvesting, maintenance, pest control, processing, packing, distribution, customer service, site accounting,

Geographic Location : Rural 333-acre Pennsylvania farm. Nearby (w/in 2 hours) cities: Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore. Also close to Appalachian hiking trail, Jersey shore, and Pocono mountains. Dorney Park amusement park is within 20 minutes.

Compensation :

$200 / week, Group house on site, separate lodgings for men and women. Shared bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living space, etc. Historic home., Free organic produce from the farm

Accommodations :
Housing is provided on site in an historic house; men and women live in separate residences. House is shared with Other interns/stewards.
Bedroom is shared. Bathroom is shared.
Lodging is Modern & well equipped.
Amenities:
Electric or gas heat, free Wifi for steward use, on-site Telephone (Free local calls only; must buy own calling card for non-local calls), On farm produce provided by host to cook your own meals.
