Was the MESA information you received in your home country clear? Was the description of your training site accurate? What more would you have liked MESA to send you before you left you home country?Yes, the information was very clear by my Peru's Representative, and the description of this Farm was totally clear too by my Host when they interviewed me for Skype. Maybe, I would have liked her to give me some advice about the steps to follow when I arrived at the host airport, as my customs clearance if I had any food. But otherwise, all good.
If you worked with a Program Representative in your home country, was he/she helpful? Is there anything more the Representative could have done to help you complete your application or to better understand MESA's program? My Peru's Representative helped me with all process that I had to follow for would find a Farm which filled out my expectations, and all process of my J-1 Visa. I would have liked that she explained me about steps to follow that how open a bank account in this country.
Any problems with housing, electricity, heat, phone, driver's license, bank account, transportation? Other problems?one of my problems was trying to adapt to the extreme weather change, especially when I was working. And another problem is to take out my bank account, since I have doubts that when I open an account here and save money, when I want to withdraw all the money and take it to my country, they charge me some kind of tax.
Describe the training you have received since getting to your placement site. What have you learned so far? Have you attended any special training, workshops, conferences, classes, etc.?I have learned use many tools for agriculture and use others metodology for seeding and cultiving, as making beds for planting differents kind of vegetables, harvesting these vegetables and how follow quality procedures for bring to clients. And I have involved in markets for some weekends. Also I have been in carbon sink class and climate change with my Host, and for 2 days, I have had a conference called Carbon Sink Convergence that permited me to learn and to share many experiences about agriculture.
Have you been involved in an cultural activities since your arrival? (examples : farmers' workshop, library event, soccer games, family activities, etc)I have been involved in many activities with all family like a farmer's meeting and special family events, and I'm so glad for be part of this.
Any suggestions to improve MESA's program?Make this program known to state universities or institutes that have these careers related to agriculture. Or have a type of agreement to make this exchange that benefits both parties.
