Was the MESA information you received in your home country clear? Was the description of your training site accurate? What more would you have liked MESA to send you before you left you home country?I received almost all the necessary information i needed from MESA before entering to the United States.
If you worked with a Program Representative in your home country, was he/she helpful? Is there anything more the Representative could have done to help you complete your application or to better understand MESA's program?N/A
Any problems with housing, electricity, heat, phone, driver's license, bank account, transportation? Other problems?Everything is going well so far.
Describe the training you have received since getting to your placement site. What have you learned so far? Have you attended any special training, workshops, conferences, classes, etc.?My training started on 10/22/2018, before starting the main training in produce department i have been trained for 3 days in the grocery department of the ECNG and it was mainly the facing of the products in-order to enhance the customer experience and to make sure all the items are perfectly stocked.
During the training in the produce department i have been trained how to display the fresh produce and its rotation after a particular time to keep them fresh. Beside of this i got the training about different produce characteristics and its peak season to answer customer questions and also to make sure the customer is reaching to the right product. Handling and care of refrigerated and non-refrigerated produce. beside of this i have been trained how and which produce should be kept in the cooler and also which produce needs to be stocked-back in tho cooler during the night since i'm also doing the closing shift.
Have you been involved in an cultural activities since your arrival? (examples : farmers' workshop, library event, soccer games, family activities, etc)I attended the ECO FARM Conference at Pacific Grove South CA. and i also participated in Winter Fancy Food Show 2019 events and also i have been invited to the Thanks giving dinner family dinner organized by Bob the ECNG owner. I was also invited by MESA to visit the Center for Land-Based Learning in Winters and as well as some visits to the farms.
Any suggestions to improve MESA's program?Despite MESA's limited resources, i have received the support beyond what i was expecting, starting from the visa process to arrival and settlement MESA has provided me the best possible assistant and still contacting me time to time for updates.
My only suggestion for MESA would be to work on increasing the number of potential hosts from the organic food industry as there are many food companies in U.S. which would be not only willing to take MESA stewards but also support the MESA programs.
