Was the MESA information you received in your home country clear? Was the description of your training site accurate? What more would you have liked MESA to send you before you left you home country? The information i received from my home country from mesa before i left my home country was clear to me, but may be some information which explains your rights while in US which i received the booklet when i had attended my interview in American embassy.
If you worked with a Program Representative in your home country, was he/she helpful? Is there anything more the Representative could have done to help you complete your application or to better understand MESA's program? The program representative in my home country was helpful, he helped me to have a good understanding on mesa and its program, but when i was working for my application i was very far from him and sometimes it was challenging and i had to seek my confirmation from him over the phone. May be for those who are not well conversant to application can be well directed on one of the link or website on how to apply in all things which involve application until the last stage of US interview process.
Any problems with housing, electricity, heat, phone, driver's license, bank account, transportation? Other problems?I have no problem except an issue of not having the internet in the house i live in, the internet is so weak and unable to handle my work which requires internet. But the host discussed with the owner and promised to fix it soon.
Describe the training you have received since getting to your placement site. What have you learned so far? Have you attended any special training, workshops, conferences, classes, etc.?I have been in a position of advancing my knowledge in bed preparation and how to fix and use drip lines, plastic mulch which keeps off the weeds, retains moisture in the soil and keeps off the weeds, Trelling/staking up tomatoes and pruning, transplanting and planting using seeders and how to use different machines in the farm, IPM especially in controlling pests and diseases, keeping data and marketing and how to process the farm produce, green house management skills and farm management in general. I attended a class in adaptive school on how to slaughter and process the chicken in a good way and recently attended the class of soil science.
Have you been involved in an cultural activities since your arrival? (examples : farmers' workshop, library event, soccer games, family activities, etc)Family activities and having parties together.
Any suggestions to improve MESA's program?May be if mesa will be in a position to come up with their schedule next time for their special identified occasions of the events or workshops where themselves will ensure that their interns have attended apart from the normal ones where the interns can attend within their localities. Also if mesa staff will be visiting or make arrangements to meet the interns in their host places or arrange with our host so that we can also visit you in your offices because we also miss you and you are our parents while we are here in US, we may have some plans which we may like to discuss with you face to face. Thank you.
