Was the MESA information you received in your home country clear? Was the description of your training site accurate? What more would you have liked MESA to send you before you left you home country?MESA has helped me so much, i am learning all i need to and have no doubt i would return to my home country a better farmer than i began my training.
If you worked with a Program Representative in your home country, was he/she helpful? Is there anything more the Representative could have done to help you complete your application or to better understand MESA's program? No, i only worked with Lauren Augusta from day 1, and she is very good and the PRO at what she does. She made me feel comfortable about everything right up till my arrival to the U.S.
Any problems with housing, electricity, heat, phone, driver's license, bank account, transportation? Other problems? Not at all. i will soon open my bank account this month and i'm sure it will be a smooth procedure.
Describe the training you have received since getting to your placement site. What have you learned so far? Have you attended any special training, workshops, conferences, classes, etc.?Yes, my host has taken me to a workshop nearby the farm location about the management of grasslands and soil nutrients. My training has covered the management of pastured-egg laying chickens, free-range stall for pigs and the handling of sheep. i am learning so much since i was only knowledgeable about dairy cows, milk and so on. I am also involved in the tractor work, such as planting, tilling etc.
Have you been involved in an cultural activities since your arrival? (examples : farmers' workshop, library event, soccer games, family activities, etc)Yes, the best ever! Hoes Down. A festival that brings together local farmers and buyers to celebrate good harvests and locally grown produce. They do traditional dances, singing, and prepare traditional food; it was just so so amazing.
Any suggestions to improve MESA's program?MESA is TOP CLASS! As far as i know.
