About the Farm:

Farm is high plains....almost one mile high in an arid climate, with about 5 acres of vegetable production embedded in a farm of about 500 acres. We are dedicated to passing on the farm land to capable people of the next generation. Town of 12,000 people is located 3 miles away. The largest cities nearby are Ft Collins, Colorado.

About the Internship

General Expectations and work flow :

The approach to our seed work is through whole farm. Evaluation by the mentors of the interns previous experience will then reflect what experiences need to be covered. Work with animals, equipment as well as plants. Looking over the shoulder of the people running the business is one of the learning opportunities. Every day work with time off when needed for the interns and farmers is negotiated at the beginning and kept regular but also can be revisited as the occasion arises.

On-farm training :

This is a working farm! Hands on farm training including planting of bienniels, harvesting the seed in the autumn, cleaning, testing packing as well as reselecting biennial vegetables for the next year. Working with contracts for other seed companies is also part of the internship.

Compensation, Accommodations and amenities provided :

On farm internships: room and board plus small stipend arrived at in the beginning of internship adjusted to the needs of the intern and their experience. Need to have own health insurance.

Willing to host a spanish speaking intern? :
Yes  - We would willingly accept someone who speaks another language than English but we would have to work on how to communicate. Our other language that we can speak in a limited way is German but we are very willing to work on communication with an intern who is willing to work on communicating with us.
