Sublimity is a very small town located in the Willamette Valley and is primarily a farming community. Salem, the state capitol is about 15 miles west. The valley sits between the low-elevation Coast range to the west and the dramatic Cascade range to the east. Winter weather systems become trapped in the valley and rain systems stall out for weeks at a time, dumping rain from November through March, which is why the vegetation in this area is so lush. Winter temperatures are regularly, but only temporarily freezing. Summers are mostly clear skies and beautiful, and sometimes very hot, but only for short windows of time.
